Tim Mooney has passed away.
He was a kind, humble, generous and incredibly talented human.
I had the pleasure of knowing Tim when I was working with American Music Club during their reunion a few years ago. To say I was star-struck is an understatement. I’ve been a huge AMC fan for all of my adult life. Mercury stands as one of my all-time favorite records. To be standing around backstage at a show with these guys was just about the weirdest thing I’ve ever experienced (in a good way). Tim made it a point to make me feel like I was family. He would call me often just to talk about music and old cars. Business was always secondary… Tim was a friend first.
I snapped this photo of Tim and Mark working on the set list just before a show at Great American Music Hall in San Francisco in 2004.
I was out of touch with Tim for the last couple of years. But I thought about him often with great fondness and appreciation.
Deepest condolences to his family, friends, musical partners, and fans all over the world.
A fund has been set up to help Tim’s wife and daughter with expenses. Please give what you can if his talent touched your life.
